The former Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University, Professor Mushirul Hasan on Saturday met with an accident on his way to Mewat from Delhi and was rushed to a hospital with head injuries.
The 67-year-old Hasan met with an accident at around 11.30 this morning when he along with two others were travelling to Mewat from Delhi.
“There was a head on collision with a dumper and he sustained head injuries. He was rushed to Apollo Hospital and is undergoing surgery,” said one his close associates. “A team of neurosurgeons are operating on him. He sustanined head injury following an accident,” said a doctor from Apollo.
Professor Hasan was a noted historian and has written extensively on the Partition of India, on communalism, and on the histories of Islam in South Asia. He served as the vice-chancellor of JMI University between 2004-2009.
