World Tourism Week: 'Run for Tourism' held

The third day of celebration of World Tourism Week was marked with fun and folic with more than 700 participating in “Run for Tourism” on Monday.

The “Run for Tourism” was flagged off from Open Hand Monument, Sector 1 here and culminated at Government Museum and Art Gallery, Sector 10.

More than 700 students from schools and colleges, Institutes of Hotel Management alongwith prominent persons besides officials of UT Tourism and Education Department took part it, highlighting the importance of tourism as an industry giving multiplier effect to economy of the country.

The UT Tourism Department also distributed T-shirts and refreshments to all the participants. later, a tourism quiz was also organised at Government Museum and Art Gallery in which about 150 students from various Government schools participated.

UT Director Tourism, Kashish Mittal gave away the prices to the winners of quiz competition and said UT Tourism department and STEPS celebrated the third day of the World Tourism Week by organising various activities. The celebrations will continue till September 30.

later in the evening, renowned Qawwals, namely Quadar Niazi, Hayder Nizami and Hasan Nizami enthralled the large number of audience at Sector 17, Plaza with their famous numbers and also responded to the demand of the spectators by singing the filmi and non-filmi Qawwalis of their choice.
