In a noble initiative to spread the message of peace and harmony, World Rest Day was observed for the first time in Bhadrak on Tuesday.
Addressing hundreds of volunteers assembled at the Sandy-bed of Salandi river, noted social activist Radhakanta Tripathy, who have conceptualized observation of the day, emphasized the importance of rest in the lives of human, animal and plants. “Absolute rest should be given to the instincts like anger, greediness, hatred and illegitimate expectation, etc to ensure world peace. It is an initiative not to encourage idleness or state of inactiveness but to inspire positive activities,” Tripathy said adding that permanent rest should be given to pollution, corruption, crimes, torture, violence, exploitation and all the negative things.
The slogan of the day was ‘Rest for Peace’. Since no day in the world has been celebrated to spread the message of ‘Rest’, this should be accepted universally and the United Nations should be informed about it, opined many intellectuals.
