The women and elderly who visit the Regional Transport Office (RTO) would not have to wait in long queues now as the department has decided to give priority to such customers.
Hundreds of people could be seen waiting in long queues outside various counters of the RTO office. The Additional Regional Transport (ARTO), Administration Sandeep Saini informed that all the officials have been asked to take the applications, taxes and other documents of women and the elderly people out of turn so that they do not have to wait in the queues.
He said the department was also embarking upon measures like online tax deposition and online applications in the near future which would make the procedures simple and fast.
He informed that construction work in the modern waiting hall with a seating capacity of 150 persons in the RTO office in Dehradun is complete and would start soon. The department has built the hall with an estimated budget of Rs9.25 lakhs.
He disclosed that a lCD screen with projector would also be installed in this waiting hall which would convey the rules and regulation of the motor vehicle act and advices like safety measures to be adopted while driving to the people. Saini claimed that the modern waiting hall would benefit large number of people who visit the office.
