An elderly woman died and her granddaughter was injured when the chariot of lord Jagannath run over them at Singipur under the Patapur police limits in Ganjam district on Sunday.
According to Patapur IIC Ajay Kumar Barik, the incident happened at around noon while old woman Rukuna Sahu (80) along with her granddaughter laxmi was trying to touch the chariot from the front side. She died on the spot and laxmi fell unconscious. The small girl, first admitted at a local hospital, was later shifted to the MKCG Medical College Hhospital here.
