Before the Ardh Kumbh 2016, the residents and the pilgrims arriving in Haridwar are about to see the holy city wearing a new look with wider and smoother roads. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had given clearance to the Era Infra Engineering ltd — a Noida- based company — regarding infrastructure re-jigging project and the district administration has also almost handed over the land to facilitate development of the State.
In an exclusive talk with The Pioneer, the AGM of Era Infra Engineering ltd, Rajesh Kumar Saini, said that the project is being carried out under Private Public Partnership mode under the clause of Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer for 25 years under the supervision NHAI, a constituent body under the Ministry of Surface transport. The technical manager, NHAI Suraj Gosain and manager, Era Infra laxman Sethi informed that under the project, roads will be of around 30 meter in width and will be divided into two phases. One would be from Muzzafarnagar to Haridwar having total length of 80 km with an estimated cost of Rs954 crore. The second phase of the project involves around 40 km from Haridwar to Dehradun with an estimated cost of Rs440 crore.
