Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Wednesday released ‘A World Within’ a sensitive book by Minakshi Chaudhary, touching upon the basic questions of life, religion, compassion, patience and love – the driving force behind it all.
Published by leading Indian publisher, International Hay House, this is the 13th book from prolific writer’s pen, best known for Ghost Stories of Shimla Hills.“Old age comes to everyone, some now, some later,” Minakshi Chaudhary, a cancer survivor, says about the book. “The tale narrates how to cope and handle this inevitability.”
The book narrates a touching story of a parent who has been disabled by dementia – Alzheimer’, handling and the care taken by the children as they recount what their Dad means to them.In a fast paced stressful world, how things fall apart when diseases strikes, how a proud and doting father’s journey slowly sinks into fading years when memory begins to fail, the book is about human relationships, said Minakshi.
Appreciating the authors efforts, the chief minister on the occasion said, as many as 65per cent of elderly persons are dependent upon others for their day to day needs and this book will touch the hearts and minds of readers as this book is based on a true story. The book records the personal experience of the author, her feelings for her father who was slowly overtaken by Alzheimer’s, a disease where a person forgets everything, even his own-self.
