UNICEF’s India Head David Mcclegan and Madhya Pradesh Head Trevor Clarke called on Woman and Child Development Minister Maya Singh here on Thursday.
They lauded effective implementation and results of schemes and programmes for all-round development of women and children in Madhya Pradesh and congratulated the Woman and Child Development Minister for this. Singh said that success of welfare programmes and their results depend on active cooperation of social organisations and people’s participation. She said that all people are extending cooperation in implementation of the schemes and programmes introduced by the Chief Minister.
David Mcclegan described as pleasant the positive impact of ladli laxmi Yojana on girls’ birth and upbringing. He said that incidents of violence against women have come down considerably during one year through Shaurya Yojana. It is a proof that the state government is functioning with strong willpower in the interest of women. He said that UNICEF is eager to extend maximum cooperation in welfare programmes for women and children.
Commissioner Women’s Empowerment Kalpana Shrivastava informed that a number of important works are being undertaken in the state with the cooperation of UNICEF. She desired the UNICEF Head to extend active cooperation in state government’s efforts to prevent female foeticide and improve gender ratio in 10 districts of the state.
