The Kendrapada Sadar police on Saturday midnight arrested a customer and detained two sex workers from Nembera village under Marshaghai block after the locals complained to the Sadar police that an illegal sex racket was operating from a house of one Adikanda Sethy. The two sex workers are sisters.
Kendrapada Sadar police station IIC Sarat Chandra Patra said that the trio was picked up in a compromising position. The costumer was identified as Chirstopher Bilung, a native of Simdega village in Jharkhand.
Police have registered a case and sent Bilung and the two sex workers for medical examination at the District Headquarters hospital, stated Patra. Among the two sex workers, the elder one was a deserted woman. Both the girls said police that circumstances compelled them to resort to flesh trade.
The elder one said first she was sold at Ramnagar for just `1 lakh by two fellow villagers taking advantage of the poverty of her family. later, she came to operate flesh trade at several lodges in Kendrapada town. Subsequently, however, the arm of the trade stretched to several other towns including capital Bhubaneswar.
IIC Patra stated that during an interrogation, the two sex workers confessed that one Abharani, who is working in Bhubaneswar for rehabilitation of the destitute women, engaged them in flesh trade. Meanwhile, one Madan Sethy, a fellow villager of the two sex workers, lodged an FIR at Kendrapada Sadar police station against the duo alleging that they lured his 18-year-old daughter to prostitution. The Police are conducting an inquiry into the matter.
