Two Maoists held in Sambalpur

During a combined operation, the Special Operation Group (SOG) and the District Voluntary Force (DVF) arrested two Maoists from the Naktideul area in Sambalpur district on Tuesday.

They were identifies as Sanjit Munda alias Ramesh(18) of Tintiligarh in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district and Biswanath Bagda alias Akash(18) of Pankadihi under Sundargarh district’s Gurundia police station. They were members of Sambalpur- Deogarh–Sundergarh division. While Sanjit had joined the Maoist group in 2010, Biswanath had joined the organisation recently. Sanjit was involved several Maoist activities in the Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Angul areas.

“We got the information that a small group of Maoists had entered the district. We soon launched search operation and held the two Maoists,” said Anti-Naxal Cell Assistant Commandant BP Baboo.
