To promote tourism in Chhattisgarh, information about socio-cultural traditions and local dishes will be given to tourists, coming from the country and abroad. Besides, in order to provide more facilities to tourists, participation of people and businessmen of private sector will be sought under the Central tourism policy.
This was informed at the one-day workshop, organised by Chhattisgarh Tourism Board with the cooperation of Union Tourism Ministry, at Raipur on Friday.
Regional director of Union Tourism Ministry Vikas Rastogi gave a presentation explaining the scheme. Managing Director of Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Santosh Mishra, members of institutions-run guest management course, tourist guides, traders (linked to hotel and tourism industry), members of Travel Trade and Hospitality Industry and officers concerned were present.
Rastogi also said that to attract tourists towards Chhattisgarh tourism, efforts would be made to make tourists from the country and abroad aware of the traditional lifestyle of the State through “Incredible India Bed and Breakfast, Homestay Establishment Scheme”.
He said that along with the publicity of this scheme, with the participation of private sector, tourists could stay in private houses and hotels at concessional rate. It has been said in the workshop that though the scheme expands facilities for stay at any tourist place, but it would also be a source of additional income for the local people.
