Having failed to get their complaint registered with senior officials at the police headquarters, on Saturday afternoon three persons of a family attempted suicide by consuming poison right in front of the Director-General of Police’s (DGP) chamber.
The three people identified as Sanjay, Sunil and Baby have been admitted to Hamidia hospital, where their condition is reportedly stable. Soon after the incident DGP issued instructions that investigations into the matter would be handled by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in CID.
On August 7, Sanjay Vishwakarma had lodged a complaint with the Nazirabad police regarding his father Ramcharan Vishwakarma, who had gone missing mysteriously. Sunil and Sanjay are also sons of the victim, while Baby is wife of Sanjay.
After a couple of days, the family members alleged that Panchayat Sachiv of Hinotia village Jitendra Shrivastava had abducted Ramcharan and demanded to take action against the suspect, who is also missing since August 7. However, the police did not make any efforts in searching for the victim.
In the past few days, the three family members approached several offices seeking action and finally on Saturday reached the DGP’s office. Sources said Sanjay had entered the chamber of the DGP Nandan Dube and handed him a complaint and returned within a few seconds.
Soon after his return, the three consumed poison with water from a nearby water purifier outside the chamber.
In an official statement, the PHQ claimed that the police are already taking the complaint of the three seriously. On August 22, the location of the accused was traced in Gwalior and a police team was dispatched there, but he could not be found.
Police claimed that the case is related to old enmity between the two families. In the month of July Shyam Singh Solanki of Hinotia village had lodged a complaint against Ramcharan Vishwakarma at Nazirabad police station and a case under section 341,294 and 323 of the IPC was lodged.
later on August 3, 2014 Ramcharan Vishwakarma lodged a complaint against Shyam Singh, Mohan Singh, Rajendra Singh at Nazirabad police station and a case under section 294, 323, 506 and 34 of the IPC was registered. After the case was registered Shyam, Mohan and Rajendra were arrested. The investigation would be based on the enmity of the victim in the past few days.
