While Madhya Pradesh is facing shortage of electricity, the State Government on Saturday claimed that power availability in the State has gone up to 8,200 MW in a week.
The statement by the government said power is being supplied as per demand since August 28. No power cut has been made. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had directed to increase power availability in the State up to 8,000 MW, it added.
As a result of sustained efforts of Energy Minister Rajendra Shukla, MP Power Management Corporation’s Managing Director Manu Shrivastava and other officers of the State, success has been achieved in increasing the State’s share from the Centre and its energy undertakings.
With the cooperation of the Narmada Valley Development Department and NTPC, substantial increase has been made in power supply to the State from Indira Sagar, Omkareshwar and Sardar Sarovar.
Due to the decision of Water Resources Department, more power could be received from hydel projects in the State like Tons, Pench, Madikhera etc. Besides, power generation has also increased in the State’s thermal power plants. Since August 28,
