For the third consecutive day, Talcher remained the hottest place in the State as mercury soared to 44 degree Celsius at this town of coal-based industries on Tuesday. The town had also recorded the State’s highest temperature at 43.8 degree on Monday.
Temperature levels stood at 40 degree Celsius and above in at least 12 places like Chandbali (40.9), Bhubaneswar (40.9), Angul (42.1), Jharsuguda (42.5), Keonjhar (40.4), Sambalpur (42.6), Sundargarh (41), Hirakud (42.7), Bhawanipatna (41.5), Titlagarh (41.5), Malkangiri (41) and Sonepur (42.6).While most parts of the State have been under the grip of the gruelling heat wave for nearly two weeks, the local Met office on Tuesday predicted that the heat wave would intensify further with temperature reaching up to 45 degree at a few places in the next 48 hours.
