The foundation-stone for a much-hyped flyover bridge at Soro was laid by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday.The proposed 790-meter bridge including the approach road having a width of 11.5 meter would be built with an expenditure of Rs 65.46 crore on a 50-50 share basis from the State and Central Governments.
“August 2016 is the target time for completion of the project. Most of the works will be carried out by the Works Department except the top 30-35 meter. The tender process is over and, in fact, the Railways have already begun its work,” said PWD Executive Engineer BC lenka. The Chief Minister also inaugurated a sub-jail for accommodating 250 inmates, including 50 women, at Soro.
Patnaik, addressing a public meeting, lambasted the UPA Government, alleging that the Centre has been neglecting Odisha in several fronts. Time has come to further strengthen the regional parties, he said. in Odisha’s interest, more BJD MlAs and MPs should be elected this time, he said. Bhadrak BJD MP Arjun Charan Sethi, several MlAs of the ruling party of Baleswar district including JP Dash, Ananta Das, Sudarshan Jena, Parsuram Panigrahi and Raghunath Mohanty, ZP president Umilata Das and party ticket aspirants for next elections were present in the events.
