To give priority to the cleanliness of the slum areas, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar on Thursday said the ‘Swachchh Haryana Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan’ will be launched from November 1 across the State.
The Chief Minister was presiding over a meeting of officers of various departments to review the arrangements of this campaign said that the decision to launch this campaign from slum areas has been taken keeping in view that these area needs more cleanliness as compared to other areas.
“The importance of cleanliness could be gauged from the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving top most priority to this Abhiyan,” said, adding that it would be a sustained campaign and would be continued in future also. The Chief Minister said that maximum portion of MPlAD fund should be spent on the construction of toilets in school, colleges and slums.
he Chief Minister said that social organizations and Non-Government organizations would be involved in this campaign so as to ensure wider coverage. Apart from this, they would also rope in Corporate Sector which could adopt certain colonies for cleanliness and their upkeep. He also directed the officers to ensure proper monitoring of cleanliness drive on all seven days and seek report from the concerned in this regard. He said that those keen to become a part of this campaign should be given badges of ‘Swachchhta Doot’. Apart from this, proper awareness should be created among the people about the Abhiyan through advertisements in print as well as in electronic media. Khattar said that during the campaign, special emphasis should be given on the disposal of collected garbage. He said that the garbage should either be put into the pit and efforts should be made to utilize it as manure.
The Chief Minister was apprised that all the Deputy Commissioners has been directed through video conferencing to mobilize all the NGOs, Self Help Groups, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) for their involvement in this campaign. He was informed that there was a target to construct 26 lakh individual toilets in the State under the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan out of which 22 lakh such toilets has been constructed. Hundred per cent individual toilets are to be constructed by 2019 under the scheme.
For Urban Areas, all the Municipal Commissioners has been directed to identify slums in their respective areas which were to be covered under the campaign. Apart from this, 50 photographs of each area would be taken during the camping so as to see the impact before and after the campaign.
Interviews in Police recruitment ends
To ensure transparency in Police recruitment, provide jobs purely on the basis of merit and eliminate corruption, the Haryana government has been decided to do away with the system of interview in such recruitment. Recruitments in Police would be held only through written and physical tests.
The decision came after chief minister Manohar lal Khattar reviewed the functioning of Home Department in a meeting with Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Roshan lal, Director General Police, S.N.Vashisth and other senior Police officers here.
The Chief Minister stressed that communal harmony be maintained at all cost and emphasis should be laid on ensuring the safety of members belonging to weaker sections of the society and the women. There is a need to check crime against women with a firm hand, he added.
The CM also stressed the need for opening more drivers’ training schools saying that only license holders should be permitted to drive heavy vehicles and dumpers so as to check road accidents. Reviewing the system to redress grievances, the Chief Minister said that grievances of the people should be redressed promptly and each complainant should be given a receipt of having received his complaint in writing.
Khattar expressed his concern over the incident in which two students of North-East were beaten up in Gurgaon recently and directed the officers to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
October 31 as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in haryana
Haryana Government has decided to observe October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” (National Unity Day) all across the state. Chief Minister Manohar lal would associate with the celebrations of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at Chandigarh, Union Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh and Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister Narbir Singh would associate in the celebrations at Gurgaon.
Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Krishna Pal would remain present at Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations at Faridabad. Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma and Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu would remain present at Narnaul and Jind respectively on this occasion.
