The State Government has decided to set up six more District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) in as many districts soon.
“The DIETs will be opened in Malkangiri, Nuapada, Boudh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh and Subarnapur districts. Earlier, only 24 districts of the State had DIETs,” said School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra.He informed that the Finance Department has approved the proposal after the recommendation of the Teacher Educational Research Appraisal Board.With the opening of six more District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), nearly 3,000 teachers can impart training annually while 50 more teachers will impart training at six new centres each.
The DIETs provide academic and resource support at the grassroots level for the success of the various strategies and programmes being undertaken in the areas of elementary and adult education.Nearly 10,000 teachers in the State are deprived of proper training due to unavailability of DIETs.
