Seashore CMD Prasant Das was charged for misappropriation of public money at the Koraput District Court here on Saturday.
The charge framed against Das under Sections 406, 467, 468, 420 and 120B of IPC. Trial would take place from September 18 onwards, said Government Advocate Prabhakar Patnaik.
Meanwhile, the petition for discharge has been rejected by CJM Jyotirmayee Behera. Prasant Das told mediapersons that he has full faith on the judiciary and he would provide his support and cooperation. He also expected early judgement in his case.
Besides, he said the Government should take some immediate action to resolve the chit fund issue so that people would be benefited. "Keeping us in jail and seizing our properties will not solve the issue," he said.
