Nilgiri MlA and BJP Baleswar MP candidate Pratap Sarangi on Monday evening staged a dharna along with his supporters in front of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here alleging that the hospital’s equipments are not functioning effectively as a result of which the service in the hospital is in disarray with the poor patients being worst-affected.
After an assurance from Chief District Medical Officer Anup Ghosh, Sarangi withdrew his dharna later. Sarangi, who had gone to the DHH to see a patient, was approached by other patients suffering problems in the hospital. He said the patients complained that they were not given clean bed-sheets and good food and there was shortage of staffs, including doctors.
CDMO Ghosh, on the other hand, claimed that adequate numbers of clean bed-sheets are provided for the patients, but why the patients are not supplied the bed-sheets would be inquired into. Further, steps would be taken on the other issues pointed by Sarangi after having meetings with the other medical officers, he said.
