Varsity to begin MSW, PGD Cyber Security, PGD Arts and Crafts
After much discussions, Ranchi University (RU) has decided to make no changes in the fees and seat limit of Master of Business Administration (MBA). To bring quality in this professional course, University’s Institute of Management Studies (IMS) officials were earlier mulling to reduce the seats and increase the fees here.
Speaking about the issue, which was one of the agenda of University’s Academic Council meeting on Tuesday, Pro Vice Chancellor M Raziuddin said, “There was a proposal that the seats of MBA should be reduced to 120 from 240 wherein the fees should be increased. We have decided not to make any changes in the fees and seats for the upcoming session. It will remain the same.”
Overall 14 issues were discussed in the meeting including the beginning of one year Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Cyber Security and Master of Social Work (MSW).
“The syllabus prepared by Department of Mathematics for PGD in cyber security is not upto the mark so we have advised for revised syllabus. We want it to be a super-speciality course so that students can learn all about employment opportunities.”
“We have finalised of starting MSW from 2014-15 session according to the amended syllabus,” Raziuddin added.
The academic council headed by Vice Chancellor lN Bhagat has approved for PGD in Fisheries Science expected to begin from the next session. Relating this Raziuddin said, “We will start a PGD course in Arts and Crafts under our Bengali department from the next session. For this we have asked the concerned faculty to revise the syllabus for the same at the earliest.”
The Council has also given a green signal to Marwari College’s request for considering Jharkhand state quota for all its courses from the upcoming session. A new award will soon be introduced by RU in the name of late Dr Brahmeshwar Prasad, renowned physician of Ranchi.
Raziuddin said, “Dr Prasad’s son had requested us to felicitate the topper of MBBS with this award. We have given him the option of either providing us the amount for memento or cash award worth Rs 10,000. It is upto him to decide.”
RU had made some changes in the four semester dissertation marks distribution for the Master of Chemistry, Zoology, Economics and Bengali students. “From now, the project work will be of 75 marks and viva will be of 25 marks out of total 100 marks,” said the Pro-VC.
