Right To Information (RTI) and social activist from the State capital Ajay Dubey has registered strong apprehension over Madhya Pradesh Information Technology (MPIT) departments’ award ceremony.
Dubey in a letter to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, IT Minister Bhupendra Singh and Secretary of the IT department Hariranjan Rao on Thursday said, “We strongly condemn this event because nowhere in the State people are getting benefit of e-governance which is important tool for promoting transparent governance.”
Dubey further said that the IT department is also responsible for not supporting the MP Professional Education Board (MPPEB) to conduct online exams which resulted into mass corruption.
He said that we have also come to know that IT department has not adopted fair and transparent process in selection process for these awards. IT department is only giving awards to 'special people'. “I would like to give the example of successful award winner ‘Hamari laadli’ scheme of Gwalior district where citizens are not able to access this website because this is not people's friendly” he added.
The RTI activist said that another example of IT department which is having anti transparency attitude is clear with this example that they failed to provide the email address of chief minister who is also head of governing body of MAPIT, minister of IT and secretary of IT department on the site of MAPIT which is unfortunate further none of the email address of ministers of state are available on government site.
He said that it is very unfortunate because every state in India and even Government of India are providing email address of the chief minister, ministers and prime minister on their respective sites.
He said that the IT department is also giving award to ‘lok Seva Kendra’ for using IT which also failed to protect citizens from corruption in service delivery of various govt schemes.
Notably, the IT department of state is going to organise IT awards ceremony on Friday for the best practices of IT in government departments.
