On the fourth day of week-long cleanliness drive under ‘Clean India Campaign’, the Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) workers on Monday carried out an intense cleaning work at all the public gardens and statues of greatest personalities of the nation.
Following RMC Commissioner, Avneesh Kumar Sharan’s directives, separate teams of cleanliness workers cleared garbage from Veer Shivaji Garden and cleaned Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Khamartarai, besides statues of Netaji Subhash Chadra Bose, Mini Mata and Shaheed Hemu Kalani.
Besides, special cleaning was carried out at GE Road situated Gandhi-Nehru Garden and Pt Jawaharlal Nehru’s statue, the sculpture of Mahatma Gandhi’s Dandi Yatra, Gautam Buddha’s statue, Rani Avantibai lodhi’s statue, Chandrashekhar Azad’s statue, besides taking up cleaning work at Ravishankar Garden, Guru Tegbahadur Garden and Motibagh. .
Anti-larva chemicals and bleaching powder was sprinkled in the gardens to control mosquito menace. The week-long cleanliness drive, which aims to sensitise people for maintaining cleanliness at public places, will conclude on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2.
