With a view to increasing greenery and check the pollution levels, the Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) has decided to plant 40,000 saplings across the city.
RMC Commissioner, Avneesh Kumar Sharan issued directives to plant at least 5,000 saplings in every zone.He asked the commissioners of all eight zones to complete the task by August 31 in a meeting held at RMC headquarters on Wednesday.The Commissioner asked the officials concerned to launch a massive plantation drive alongside the roads, in gardens, near the ponds, in cemetery and in the compound of residential apartments developed under BSUP scheme.
He also directed the officials concerned to ensure safety of the plants. The Commissioner assigned RMC Horticulture Department’s In charge Dr Kevart Rahi the task of monitoring the plantation drive.Following the directives, RMC zone-1 Commissioner, DK Banswar led a team to a cemetery situated in Yatiyatanlal Ward-4 for planting trees.
A group of school children participated in the drive and planted about 150 saplings of different species on the open land.The students also took an oath to take care the plants for helping it to grow.During the meet, the Executive Engineer of Chhattisgarh State Electrocity Board, Hemant Solanki asked all the zone commissioners to ensure no street light should be found illuminating during day hours in their respective areas.
He asked the officials to keep a close monitoring in this regard. RMC Executive Engineer of Water Supply Department, AK Malve instructed all the zone commissioners to ensure no leakage should be there in the drinking water supply pipeline.He asked the officials concerned to soon complete the remaining work of ongoing drinking water supply scheme in Ram Nagar area.
Directives regarding BSUP scheme and dilapidated road condition were also issued to the officials concerned during the meet.
