The 13th zonal executive committee meeting of the East Coast Railway Engineers’ Association (ECoREA) was held here on Sunday being presided over by its president Sudhamaya Bajapayi.
The committee thanked Odisha MP Bibhu Prasad Tarai for his support for the cause of railway safety. Under his leadership, delegates of ECoREA and All India Railway Engineers’ Federation (AIREF) discussed the demands of railway engineers with Minister of State for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Railway Board Member (Staff) AK Mittal in New Delhi on February 17.
But even after one and a half months, the Railway Board has not taken any favourable decision for which committee expressed its dissatisfaction. The committee unanimously decided that if no favourable decision is taken within two months after formation of a new Government, all engineers would go for a “no work” agitation. This would unfortunately affect the safety of journey of passenger seriously, said association general secretary Bobin Mohanty.“It is unfortunate that engineers have been clubbed with labour unions for which our demands could not be represented properly,” said Mohanty.
