Out of total 27 Zila Panchayats of the State, 15 posts for the president have been reserved for women including Raipur with general category while Durg and Rajnandgaon with Other Backward Class (OBC) category.
The reservation process for the posts of president of Zila Panchayats was completed amid discussions at Indravati Bhawan here on Thursday.
According to officials, three posts are reserved for SC including two for women. In ST category 13 posts are reserved including 7 posts for women. In the OBC category, as many as 7 seats are reserved including 4 posts for women. As many as 4 posts are unreserved out of which two are for women and two are open.
The post of president of Zila Panchayats under unreserved category include Balod and Raigarh while unreserved woman seats include Raipur and Gariaband. The posts reserved for OBC include Kabiradham, Dhamtari and Bilaspur.
The OBC category reservation for women had been made for Durg, Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund and Bemetara. The SC reserved seat is for Janjgir-Champa while SC category for woman is for Mungeli and Baloda Bazar, officials said.
The ST reserved seats include Sukma, Kondagaon, Surguja, Balrampur, Korba and Surajpur. The ST category woman seats are reserved in Bijapur, Dantewada, Narayanpur, Jagdalpur, Jashpur, Koriya and Kanker.
