On the World Dance Day on Tuesday, the theatre and classical dance lovers of the city were presented with enchanting Kathak performances at Antarang Hall, Bharat Bhavan.
Renowned Kathak dancers V Anuradha Singh from Bhopal and Ragini Makhkhar presented a splendid show before the audience. The programme was organised by Vrinda Kathak Kendra, Bhopal. Anuradha is a noted Kathak dancer for her innovation and improvisation in traditional Kathak technique. Rhythmic understanding, ability to extemporize with speedy rhythms and preserving pure Kathak classical style are some of her qualities. She performed 'Pure Kathak' leaving the audiences mesmerized. The audiences were awestruck when she performed Sufi Kathak.
Experimenting with classical Sufi Kathak, she has evolved a refined, sophisticated style in pure classical form, based on fast speeds, swift turns, mind thrilling footwork, delicacy of movements and impressive expressions. The performance based on tales of Radha and Krishna and other mythological tradition, she gives fine gestures and facial expressions. She refined its dramatic and rhythmic aspects, delighting the audience with the performance over rhythm and the stylized presentation.
The programme was followed by the performance of Ragini Makhkhar. She also presented a beautiful recital of Kathak before the audience. She is an accomplished Kathak dancer. An excellent blend of sensuous movements and graceful footwork with absolute control on rhythm describes the performance of Ragini Makhkhar, a skillful artiste who always enthralls the audience with her beautiful and enchanting expressions and tremendously speedy footwork.
The audiences were enthralled as they watched the show with rapt attention. It was like a mass treat for them to watch the beautiful moves over such mild music that left them mesmerized.
