The southern and interior districts of the State would experience rains in next 24 hours as the low pressure formed over the south central and northeast Bay of Bengal off the coast of the State moved towards land mass on Saturday, said the local Meteorological Centre.
“Heavy rainfall would also occur at one or two places over interior districts of Odisha and gusty surface wind reaching a speed of 35 to 45 kmph, gusting to 55 kmph may prevail along and off Odisha coast during this period,” it informed.
“Yesterday’s Well Marked low Pressure Area over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha Coast has moved and lies over south Chattisgarh and adjoining Telengana and south interior Odisha,” it added.
The centre also predicted that Brahmapur, Nabarangpur, Nupada and Balangir areas are forecast to witness heavy rains. Fishermen have been advised to exercise caution while venturing into sea.
