Quality Council of India (QCI), the apex body for quality set up by the Central Government launched its Madhya Pradesh chapter in Bhopal on Monday. Avik Mitra, Advisor and Head, National Board for Quality Promotion (NBQP) under the council, announced the launching of this Chapter at a formal function held at the Centre for Research and Industrial Staff Performance (CRISP).
Inaugurating the Chapter, Minister for Technical and Higher Education, Uma Shankar Gupta who was the chief guest for the function, congratulated the Council for this decision and assured full support of the Govt. for this initiative.
The Minister also lauded the national level initiatives of QCI for promoting Quality in major sectors like education, healthcare, rural development, public services and govt. offices, affecting the common man and public at large and said that the State govt. will seriously look at these and consider implementing them in the state.
The Minister appreciated the efforts of QCI in evolving a scheme for professional membership and establishing its Chapters at various places in order to spread the objectives of the council and extend the outreach of its quality initiatives and programs. He called upon all the quality professionals and major institutions in the state as well as the govt. ministries and departments to come forward and support these initiatives of QCI.
Earlier, welcoming the gathering Mukesh Sharma, CEO, CRISP said that while QCI has its Chapters at other places like Mumbai, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar etc, this would be the first chapter at the state level. He also recalled the support of QCI in establishing the Institute for Quality Management and Research (IQMR) last year and said that this Institute, being exclusively set up for quality would be managing the activities of the chapter. He also assured full support of CRISP in promoting and running of this Institute as well as the QCI chapter.
