The polling for the election of Dehradun district planning committee members will be held between 8 am and 3 pm on Friday. The counting of votes will begin on the same day after 3.30 pm, said Dehradun additional DM Pratap Singh Shah on Thursday.
The elected members of the district Panchayat and civic bodies, including municipal corporations and municipal councils, would cast votes. A total of 21 candidates had filed their nominations for 16 various posts of district planning committee, district Panchayat. But two candidates - Sandhya Johri from Saharanpur and Surat Singh from Vikasnagar- withdrew their nomination on Thursday. A total of 19 candidates are in the fray for various posts of district planning committee of district Panchayat and 43 voters would vote on Friday. A total of 22 candidates are in the fray for 11 posts in Dehradun Municipal Corporation while 60 voters have been listed in the voter list.
A total of three candidates are in the fray for the single post in Mussoorie municipal board while 26 voters have been listed in the voter list.
Assistant election officer, Rishikesh Santosh Kumar Pandey said that Kuldeep Singh had withdrawn his nomination. A total of three candidates are in the fray for two posts in Rishikesh municipality while 27 voters have been listed in the voter list.
It should be mentioned here that the last date for filing nomination papers was October 28. The scrutiny of the nomination papers was held on October 29.
