Various political parties observed the birth anniversary of Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das here on Monday.
A host of BJP leaders led by Biswabhusan Harichandan and Bhubaneswar president Amiya Das garlanded Madhubabu’s statue in front of the Raj Bhavan. They remembered Madhubabu as a great freedom fighter and a frontal architect of the modern Odisha.Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee observed the birthday at the Congress Bhavan. Several leaders led by PCC vice-president Gurupad Nanda also garlanded Madhubabu’s statues both at the Raj Bhavan Square and the Congress Bhavan.
Observing the Jayanti, Samruddha Odisha president Dr Jatish Chandra Mohanty called upon the people to vow to start another movement to free the State from miseries like poverty and unemployment. He blamed the State Government for making Odisha the poorest State. Educationist Debi Prasad Das, writer Abhay Singh, party secretary Prabir Mohanty and general secretary Nirakar Beura attended the commemoration meeting.
Similarly, Samajwadi Party leaders led by State president Rabi Behera paid rich tribute to the Utkal Gaurav. Addressing a meeting, Behera said Madhubahu’s dreams would be cherished only when Odia language and culture would be preserved and poverty eradicated from the State.
