Political blend in devotional spirit

Tuesday, 30 September 2014 | Mukesh Ranjan | Ranchi

Ambitious aspirants of Ranchi and Hatia Assembly seats are striving hard to prove their presence among the masses during this festive season. Young and first time contenders for the coming Assembly elections in Jharkhand are the forerunners in the race of hoardings with their wishes for a Happy and joyous Durga Puja to the denizens of the city.

According to the newly inducted AJSU leader Sandeep Verma who supersedes all others in the poster war, these hoardings are not only for propagating good wishes for the people rather those hoardings have a message in it. “My posters are a bit different from others, as it also has a message in it, besides having good wishes for all,” said Verma.

Verma through his posters has tried to raise day to day problems in the society which calls for a change in the system. “Through these posters, I have tried to portray the failure in the system, which should not be a part of our day to day life,” added Verma. Verma believes that these hoardings are the best medium to put your point silently without criticising anybody. As a responsible citizen one cannot ignore the day-to-day problems of crippled education system, health services as well as failure of law and order in the society, added Verma.

“As conducting political activity on day-to-day basis is not possible, hence one can mobilize the masses through these hoardings projecting the situations when it becomes an essential for the political change” he said. Ranchi MlA CP Singh also sees no harm in it as Durga Puja is considered one of the greatest festival for Eastern India. “It varies from person to person, anyone having faith in Hindu mythology and religion has the right to wish each other,” said Singh.

Some of the leaders on the other hand, believe that it was an effort made by the small time leaders lacking recognition in order to grab attention of the people in the name of Puja wishes. “You will not see any such poster of mine anywhere in the city as I believe that a leader who has connected himself well with the masses would never make any such attempt as only way to reach out to the people’s heart is thorough your work,” said senior BJP leader Sanjay Seth who intends to try his luck during these Assembly Elections. Wishing people through posers will never make any difference to the vote bank, he added.

Former Deputy Mayor Ajay Nath Shahdeo, who has recently joined BJP said that he has been doing it for the last 6-7 years which is purely for conveying his good wishes for the people of Ranchi during the festive season.
