Six days after confidential investigations, the police have traced the miscreants involved in the attack on law and Tourism and Culture Minister Maheswar Mohanty, said Puri SP Anup Sahu to mediapersons here on Thursday.
Sahu was confident that the police have tracked the whereabouts of the accused after getting strong clues. The culprits would be arrested very soon and forwarded to court, he asserted.
“After marathon interrogations, our teams have ascertained the locations of the accused,” said the SP. However, according to a TV news channel, the police have detained five persons, who hail from outside the State and belong to a particular gang. The police are interrogating the persons to unearth more clues in the case, it added.
Though the SP did not divulge any details regarding the investigations, he said the motive of the attack seems to be old enmity.
Notably, a few armed miscreant had opened fire on the Minister near his residence in Puri on February 21. He is undergoing treatment in the Kalinga Hospital in Bhubaneswar and
recovering.
