Police plan bigger drive against human trafficking

Thursday, 31 July 2014 | PNS | Cuttack

As part of its endeavour against human trafficking, the State Crime Branch police are holding a two-day workshop here from Friday to train the trainers on anti-human trafficking issues.

It may be mentioned that at least 12 integrated anti-human trafficking units (IAHTU) are keeping a strong vigil at vulnerable locations to curb human trafficking. Similarly, ever since the child missing cases are treated as kidnapping and trafficking by the police stations, the rescue rate of these missing cases has increased significantly.

While only 18 per cent child missing cases were solved in 2011, the rescue of missing children cases has increased to over 75 per cent in 2013. For this, Crime Branch IGP YB Khurania was recently commended by the Union Home Ministry in New Delhi. DGP Sanjeev Marik would inaugurate the workshop.
