PM pitches for 'majboot' BJP Govt

Sunday, 30 November 2014 | Pranav Pratyush | RANCHI

In course of his hi-octane political rallies in the State, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the people of Jharkhand have to make an important decision this election to choose between majboot (strong) Government and majboor (helpless) Government. He said that the elections this time were very important as the next five years will decide the future of the State for the next 100 years.

Modi was addressing a crowd of about 30,000 people at his maiden rally in the historical Morhabadi ground here on Monday to campaign for about half a dozen BJP-AJSU candidates fighting polls from Ranchi and adjacent constituencies.

"There were times when people used to vote half heartedly and did not give full support to any Government but times have changed. Now, people vote for strong and stable Governments. People of Jharkhand too have to take a crucial decision this time. They have to come forward to oust majboo (helpless) Government from the State," he said amid cheering from the audiences.

"Helpless Governments plunder the State and share the booty among partners but at the time of elections the partners again get separated. They eat up the malai (Development funds) through corrupt practices and then blame each other. Now, the people remain confused as to whom should they complain about," Modi added.

"But I can assure you that you can twist Modi Government's ears after five years. People in a democracy can ask for their rights in a strong Government but in a helpless Government you don't know who is to be made accountable," he said attracting a large applause from the crowd.

Taking a dig at the recent controversy related to CNT Act in Jharkhand, Modi said that the parties who have been voted out of power in the General Elections have become so frustrated that they have started spreading rumours.

"They (The Congress and JMM) are now spreading lies that the BJP will snatch land from tribals. Adivasis (tribals) are in the country ever since the mythological Ramayana but the Congress did not know this. It was recognised in 90s when former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee made a separate Ministry for tribals and allocated separate budget for their development," he said.

"Those who have been doing politics in the name of tribals grossly ignored them and exploited them. They never thought well about the tribal population. But now the tribals are witnessing a change in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and everywhere. Wherever there are tribals there is a BJP Government. Jharkhand will also have one," said Modi, asking the people in his inimitable style whether they will vote for a stable Government or not.

The PM also did not forget to take a jibe at JMM chief Shibu Soren and his son CM Hemantcalling the JMM-led Government Baap-Bete ki sarkar. "Baap-bete ko kucch karna nahi hai. Ye bas loot sakte hain. Kabhi iski god me baithte hain kabhi uski. (The father-son duo does not have to do anything. They can just loot the State. They ally with anyone if needed)… We have such huge water supply pipe in Gujarat that the father son can drive their car inside it," he said as the crowd cheered.

The PM also touched contemporary local issues, including migration, poverty, unemployment, poor electricity in the State and said that there was just one Jari-Booti (Herbal medicine) that can eliminate all ailments of Jharkhand. "The only Jari-Booti is development and I will give you the remedy. I am ready for the job to take care of the adolescent state for next five years just give us full majority for a strong Government," he signed off.
