A patriotic cultural programme, Treeranga, was organised by art and culture body Abhinaya Jagat in the open stage of the Ganjam Kala Parishad here on Tuesday evening. The event was inaugurated by Berhampur University Vice-Chancellor Prof Deepak Kumar Behera.
Prof Behera stressed on the need of building a patriotic and brotherhood society. Family Court Judge Debajani Das, who was the chief speaker, called upon youths to follow the ideals of the great patriots who have sacrificed their lives in the Indian freedom struggle.
Former Aska block chairman Suryakant Parida, well-known social worker Prabhakar Pattnaik and film actor Ranjit Nanda joined the programme as guests of honour.
Abhinaya Jagat advisor lingaraj Jena coordinated the event while the chief of Akashvani, head of UTV Jagan Mohan Mahapatra; Swarnaprabha Padhi, chief editor of Odisha Barta Manojkanta Das, Usharani Brahma and Abhinaya Jagat manager Rabindra Nayak were also on the dais.
Earlier, Abhinaya Jagat convenor Dr Mihir Kumar Tripathy, in his welcome address, spoke on the significance of the programme while coordinator P Subash Patra introduced the guests. Social worker senior advocate Krushna Mohan Panigrahi was honoured with a memento and a citation for his contribution to the society.
Among others, scribe Sudip Sahu, artist Basudev Rath, Nabakishore Mahapatra, Neelanchal Behera, P Subash Patra and Devi Haldar took part in the cultural show and sung impressive patriotic songs. Artists from different cultural institutions like Nupur, Nrutyam, Aneswa Kalakendra, Swastik Creatives and Odishi Nrutyan also participated in the programme. Suryanarayan Patra and Sunanda Padhi supervised the show while artists Satya Maharana, T Appa Rao, Kailash Panigrahi, Tripati Nayak, Aswini Mahapatra and Upendra Mishra coordinated the programme.
