Paddy procurement at support price for kharif marketing year 2014-15 will commence across the State at 1,976 procurement centres from December 1, the State Government announced on Saturday.
Arrangements for paddy procurement have been completed. Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Protection Department Principal Secretary Alok Shukla had district-wise review of the arrangements through video-conferencing from Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhavan).
Shukla gave necessary guidelines in the context to district Collectors. This year, support price for paddy (thick variety) has been fixed at Rs1,360 per quintal. For paddy (thin variety), support price for procurement is Rs1,400 per quintal. likewise, support price for corn is Rs1,310 per quintal.
Under the Support Price Scheme, paddy procurement from farmers in cash and linking will be done from December 1 to January 31, 2015 and corn procurement will be done from December 1 to May 31, 2015.
In the video conference, Shukla instructed Collectors to appoint Grade-III Officers of Executive-level for daily monitoring at each procurement centre. These officers will have to submit report about their inspection visit to procurement centres, to Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), on daily basis.
