The validities of the agreements of five new power projects in the State were extended by two years by the State Government on Wednesday. The decision was reportedly taken on the basis of the recommendations of the Industrial Investment Promotion Corporation of Odisha limited (IPICOl), which had assessed the progress of these projects.
However, the real reason for extension of the validities is understood to be the delay in coal block allocations. The concerned power projects are Visaka Thermal Power, Ind Barath Energy (Utkal), Monnet Power Energy, Maa Durga Thermal Power Company and NSl Nagapatnam & Infratech, informed sources.
