In seventy separate cases filed by Haryana State Vigilance Bureau during 2014, 72 Government officers and officials have been convicted and sentenced to imprisonment and fined by courts under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code.
Apart from them, 13 other persons were also given punishment. Director General, State Vigilance Bureau, Haryana, Yash Pal Singhal on Tuesday said that those sentenced included officers and officials of various Departments namely Revenue-20, Police-11, Power-7, Irrigation-6, Education-4, local Bodies-4, Food and Supplies-3, Health-3, Public Health-2, Public Works (Building and Roads)-2, Town and Country Planning-2 and 1 each of Home Guards and Civil Defence, Fisheries, Agriculture, Horticulture, labour, Technical Education, Treasury and Excise and Taxation.
He said Rajender, JE, Irrigation Department, Gohana, district Sonepat has been sent to six years imprisonment along with fine of Rs2500, Sub Inspector, Kailash Chand, SHO, Police Station Satnali, district Narnaul has been sent to five years imprisonment along with fine of Rsone lakh and Balwinder Singh and Harwinder Singh, residents of Saketri, district Panchkula have been sent to five years imprisonment alongwith fine of Rs50,000.
