One person has been arrested in connection with the murder of councilor of ward-39, Ratnesh Singh while manhunts are to arrest main accused Rajiv Ranjan.
As many as two suspects have been detained by the police to take the case to its logical conclusion.
“One person has been arrested and that person is also a named accused in the case. We are interrogating people for further lead in the case. Rajiv Ranjan has not been arrested,” said City SP Anoop Birtharay.
Ratnesh was shot at by two unidentified gunman near his house in Dhurwa while he was parking his vehicle. According to police, personnel enmity is behind the killing of Ratnesh who had faced similar bid earlier also.
Meanwhile, the incident had irked ward councilors and a delegation in the leadership of Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijay Vargiya is likely to meet DGP Rajiv Kumar to seek security for councilors. Elected representatives of RMC today organized a condolence meeting to express solidarity with the aggrieved family of the slain ward councilor.
“We will try to meet DGP and considering the threat to a public representative who spends more time in field we will press for security for ward councilors also,” said the Deputy Mayor.
