Everyday will be a special day during the National Nutrition Week from September 1 to September 7. The people concerned with it will be given information pertaining to various aspects of nutritious diet during the week. Anganwadi and ASHA workers have been trained for activities to be undertaken during the period.
September 1 will be observed as Iron Day and dialogue will be held with Gram Swasthya Tadarth Samitis, Poshan Mitras and Poshan Sahyoginis. September 2 will be known as Calcium Day and on this day Sakhi-Saheli groups of adolescent girls will be informed about need of calcium in their lives.
Vitamin Day will be observed on the third day. On this day, door-to-door visits will be undertaken to ensure whether the children up to six months have been nourished and are still being administered with vitamin diet or not. On September 4, door-to-door information will be collected whether one-year-old children are being given nutritious diet as per the directives given at Sneh Shivir.
Cooking competition will be held on the 5th day, which will be observed as Protein Day. Nursing mothers will be informed about things to be eaten so that they and their children get proteins. September 6 will be observed as Iodine and Balanced Diet Day. Balanced diet Thali competition for adolescent girls will also be held on the day. They will be informed about the importance of iodised salt in food and importance of balanced diet.
A Zinc Day will be held on September 7. On this day, information will be given about ORS and healthy adolescent girl competition will be held.
