Some of the prominent leaders in Punjab would not be able to cast their votes for themselves. Out of 39 candidates of the prominent parties, at least five of them cannot vote for themselves from the seats they have been fielded from, as their names are enrolled in electoral rolls of other constituencies, or in other states.
Senior BJP leader and SAD-BJP combine candidate from Amritsar Arun Jaitley, and Vinod Khanna have been enrolled as voters in Gujarat and Mumbai respectively. Vinod Khanna has been enrolled as voter in Malabar Hill, Mumbai. He is pitted against Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa and AAP candidate Sucha Singh Chhotepur. Contesting his maiden lok Sabha election, Jaitley's name is enrolled in the Vejalpur assembly segment of the Gandhinagar parliamentary constituency in Gujarat.
Sitting Patiala MlA, Capt Amarinder has been registered as voter in Patiala assembly segment, as he is contesting from Amritsar. He will vote for his wife, but not for himself, so as his family. Similarly, former Union Minister and Congress leader Ambika Soni, contesting the polls for the first time, is enrolled as a voter in the Hoshiarpur parliamentary constituency.
AAP’s candidate from ludhiana Harvinder Singh Phoolka's name is enrolled in Delhi. SC lawyer is locked in a poll battle against SAD candidate Manpreet Singh Ayali, Congress candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu and SAD rebel Simarjeet Bains from ludhiana seat. Congress' Bittu is enrolled in Payal assembly segment which falls in the Fatehgarh Sahib parliamentary constituency.
