Nomination for the second and third phases of Panchayat elections 2014-15 will be filed from December 31. December 29 was the last date for filing nominations for the first phase.
State Election Commissioner R Parasuram has informed that notification for second and third phases and filing of nominations would start from 10.30 am on Wednesday. The same day information will be given about reservation of seats and list of polling booths published. Nominations will be received till 3 pm on January 7, 2014 and scrutinised on January 8. Candidature can be withdrawn till January 10, 2015. The same day, election symbols will be allotted soon after withdrawal of nominations.
Polling for the second phase will be held on January 31 and third phase on February 19, 2015 from 7 am to 3 pm. Counting of votes for panchs and sarpanchs will be held at polling booths soon after end of polling process. Tabulation and declaration of results of election of panch and sarpanch will be made at development block level on February 5 for the second phase andFebruary 23 for the third phase.
Counting of votes for Zila and Janpad Panchayat members will be made at development blocks on February 4, 2015 for the first phase and February 22 for the third phase. Tabulation of votes of all phases for Janpad Panchayat members will be done and results declared on February 24 and for Zila Panchayat members February 25.
Nomintions
According to information received so far, 1.35 lakh nominations have been filed for the first phase of Panchayat elections 2014-15. As many as 2217 nominations for district Panchayat members have been received including 1067 males and 1150 females.
Number of Janpad Panchayat member’s nominations is 11,626 including 5506 males and 6110 females. As many as 37,928 nominations have been filed for saranch including 18,613 males, 19,300 females and 15 others. In all, 83,559 candidates have file nominations for election of panch including 42,858 males, 40,696 females and 5 others.
December 29 was the last date for filing nominations, which were scrutinised on December 30. January 1, 2015 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature. Detailed information is available on commission’s website www.mplocalelection.gov.in.
