Amid tight security, vehicular movements will remain restricted on the Mall Road in lake city of Nainital, from 2 pm in view of the December 31 celebrations. More so, the district administration Nainital has also asked the officials concerned to prepare a work plan for traffic diversions on the bustling Mall Road, Tallital-Rajbhawan-Masjid Road, High Court Road and other link roads to ease inconvenience to the commuters and the tourists during the 31 December celebrations in Nainital on Wednesday.
More so, the officials concerned informed heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the lake city during the annual event. Rather, such vehicles will be parked in the sites meant for parking outside the lake city. The district administration Nainital has also asked the hoteliers, particularly those hotel owners who do not have parking facility, to ensure parking of vehicles of their boarders, only in the allotted parking sites in Nainital.
At the same time, the Nainital district administration has also asked the officials concerned to deploy adequate police around the petrol pumps located at Sukhatal, Tallital and adjacent areas to avoid unnecessary vehicular crowd in these places.
Emphasising the need to have proper security arrangements in and around the city on the occasion of the New Year Eve celebrations, Deepak Rawat , District Magistrate, Nainital, has asked police officials to deploy police teams at every 100 meter distance. He has also asked them to deploy mobile and patrolling police teams so that proper security arrangements and vehicular traffic could be ensured.
Apart from the traffic police, the regional transport department will also deploy its mobile teams to regulate vehicular traffic during the celebrations. Meanwhile, in a bid to put sound pollution under control, the district administration Nainital has also asked the hotel owners to follow the prescribed norms while hosting the musical shows on the eve of the new year and take permission from the competent authority in this regard. In case of violation of the laid- down norms, actions will be taken against the guilty, asserted the district administration, Nainital.
Nainital district police claims to have spruced up security arrangements to ensure the day passes off glitch-free. Vigil is being intensified at the inter-district points and other areas which are sensitive from the security standpoint to maintain law and order during the said annual event.
