Getting upset over no placement facility for last few years, students of Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) on Thursday locked the college gate and gheraoed the staffs demanding immediate intervention of the college authorities.
“Since last two to three years, no company has come to the college for placement though it is a 30-year-old Government technical institute. Although we have been approaching the college placement officer to take steps to bring various companies to the campus, nothing tangible has happened as yet,” said a student.
Refuting the allegation, college training and placement officer Bidyapati Sarangi said that due to the recession in last few years, companies do not want to come to the campuses. “We are in touch with various companies for placements and the problem of the students will be sorted out soon,” he added. Meanwhile, students threatened to intensify their agitation.
