Friday, 28 February 2014 | VIDHI PODDAR | Ranchi

Under construction Super Specialty centre of Sadar hospital situated in the heart of the city near Albert Chowk have been stonewalled for anyone even for the doctors. A temporary wall has been constructed at the all the entry points of the hospital prohibiting anyone to go inside and take a view of the construction work undergoing.

On the condition of anonymity a guard stationed there said, “From past couple of months no construction work has been carried out in the new Sadar hospital. We have given strict instruction not to let anyone enter in its premises. Even hospital staff are not allowed to take an entry inside.”

However, the members of National Building Construction Corporation limited who has been assigned the responsibility of developing the new Sadar hospital remained futile over the matter.

The revamp work of Sadar hospital commenced in the year 2008. The 10- acre landscape campus has been upgraded at an estimated cost of around Rs131 crore. It has 11 storey — main building, a 10 storey doctors hostels’ and a seven-storey ward building. A 600KV power substation, a 1,250 KV generator room and an underground tank with a capacity to store liters of water has been set up.

When Civil Surgeon at Sadar hospital Ranchi Dr Gopal Srivastava wasenquired the reason behind closing the entry points he commented, “I am also surprised about it. last time I was also not allowed to make entry in the hospital premises saying it will be risky to get in as the work is under progress.”

Interestingly, despite rigorous effort of The Pioneer the members of National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) limited who has been assigned the responsibility of developing the new Sadar hospital remained tightlipped over the matter.

The 500-bedded new Sadar hospitals is to be run at Private Public Participation (PPP) mode and the search for a private player is going on from past four years.

Responding to the question regarding inauguration of the much hyped hospital Srivastav said, “We are still waiting a suitable bidder. Two times tender for the same have been floated but to no avail. We have again floated the tender to which last date is March 10. Right now I cannot assure for any stipulated date.”
