New MP DGP takes office today

A 1980 batch IPS officer, Surendra Singh, was on Monday posted as the DGP of Madhya Pradesh. The Home Department issued orders in this regard on Monday. He would assume office on Tuesday evening.

Sinh was born on July 1, 1956 in Gwalior. During his long tenure he served as Additional Superintendent of Police, Raipur, Superintendent of Police, Mandla, and also posted in Morena, Khandwa, Durg and Bhopal.

He has also served as Assistant Inspector General of Police for special branch, CID and personnel branches in the State police headquarters (PHQ). Singh has worked as Inspector General of personnel, administration and intelligence wings.
