The tenure of acting chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission Justice AK Saxena came to an end on Wednesday.
Justice Saxena paid courtesy visit to Governor Ramnaresh Yadav at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday before handing over the charge to his successor Virendar Mohan Kanwar.
later, Kanwar and other officers and employees of the Commission accorded him formal farewell. Those present on the occasion include MPHRC secretary Vinod Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Ashok Kumar Jain, registrar Hem Kumar Dube, additional director directorate of public relations Rohit Mehta, Superintendent of Police Anita Malviya and Deputy Superintendent of Police SS lalli.
Before finally leaving the office Justice Saxena went to the employees of the Commission and expressed gratitude towards them for their cooperation during his tenure.
The tenure of Justice Saxena would always be remembered for comprehensive public welfare recommendations. He has his own unique working style. He removed the red beacon from his car soon after taking over the charge of the Commission and issued strict instructions for not writing 'honorable before his name. Similarly, he issued instructions to stop floral welcomes in the public awareness programs and told the Commission friends to accord only verbal welcome to the guests.
A major step taken by him was to take cognizance of the news appearing in the news papers. During his tenure he took action on cognizance on over one thousand published news of human rights violation and instructed the concerned officers to submit report for the same with the Commission and when needed also called on the officers to appear before the Commission. All these issues were comprehensive public welfare issue. All the recommendations made by him always centred on public benefits.
