Maoists kidnapped a villager and after holding Jan Adalat (People’s Court) on Monday night killed him with sharp-edged weapon at Palamdagu Village under Polampalli Police Station area in Sukma district of Bastar region.
The victim identified as Sariyam Podiya (25), was in the hit-list of the Naxals, and was a resident of Palamdagu village, before leaving his village to reside in Andhra Pradesh.
He had come back to his village a month ago. The Naxals got wind about his presence in the village and kidnapped him two days ago. On Monday night, they held a ‘Jan Adalat’ and killed Sariyam. The insurgents accused him of participating previously in the anti-Naxal movement ‘Salwa Judum’.
Meanwhile, on the intervening night of April 21 and 22, the Maoists had shot dead Sarpanch Nuppo Nanda of Morpalli Village panchayat in Konta block of Sukma district. He was killed in laxmipuram village in Andhra Pradesh.
The Naxals had accused Sarpanch Nuppo Nanda also of participating in the Salwa Judum movement. After the Supreme Court ban on Salwa Judum, whoever had participated in the movement, is in the hit list of the Naxals . Because of that, most of the people, who had participated in the Salwa Judum movement have left their village and were residing in different parts of Andhra Pradesh.
