Naxal gunned down in insurgency affected Savnar

A hardcore Naxal was shot dead following a gun battle between the police and insurgents in a forested patch of the insurgency hit district, police informed here on Sunday.

A muzzle gun, detonators and others items were seized at the spot after the operation. According to the police, a joint police party of district police and CRPF had gone on a search operation from Police Reserve Centre Bijapur .

The police party conducting search operations in Gorna, Mankeli, Bodlapusnar, Munga, had reached a hilly track in the jungles of Savnar on June 27.  At Savnar, the police force had a face-off with Naxals and both the sides engaged in gun battle during the evening hours. The intermittent gun fight lasted for about an hour after which Naxals fled in the jungle.

later on, during the searching of area body of a Naxal was found who was identified as Madvi Budhu alias Sukku(28) native of Gaytapara, Mankeli. He was Deputy Commander and Member of Area Committee of Janmilita one of the offshoots of banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) active in Gangaloor area.

A muzzle gun, detonator, cordex wire, gelatin wire, naxal uniform, camera flash, pressure bomb, magazines, medicines, Naxal literature and other items of daily use were also found at the spot, police said.
