Navodaya students protest against poor quality food

Rotten vegetables, milk-like-water, inedible bread, Half backed snacks, soggy food items–were some of the complaints in the food served to students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Putto. Students protested on Wednesday on the gate of the campus and raised their voice against school management.

They were complaining that the quality of food served has deteriorated. Students prefer to avoid it fearing they might fall ill. The common refrain is food served is “stale, tasteless and of poor quality and cleanliness is hardly taken care of.”

Students in dozens complained that they fell ill after consuming food served in the school mess. They also complained of stomach ache after consuming food.

Students also objected about the lack of hygiene in kitchen. Students said, “No attention is being paid to hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen. Students said that mess menu is also not followed and there are no medicines of diarrhea in the school.

According to the protesting students, the mess in-charge threatened them when they compliant to him and used to say that you have to live here so don’t complain to higher authorities.

Sunil Kumar, Sub Divisinal Officer after hearing student’s plea convened a meeting with the school management and directed to take disciplinary action against  mess in-charge and  instructed to take action against mess staffs, cook and others also if found guilty.
